I’m a Cornish boy, born in Truro. Grew up in the Hayle area and was raised throughout Kernow by my incredible family, and many others family’s just like it. Cornwall is a place of community. Cornwall is my home, and I am proud to be a part of it.


I’ve always been in the creative industry within Cornwall, learning to paint, create, and build at St Ives Tate from a young age, through to finishing my degree in Broadcasting from Falmouth University. I’ve worked in TV, film, and theatre, and I was lucky to tour with companies such as Miracle Theatre and Kneehigh. Later, I moved onto London for 12+ years where I worked in some of London’s big theatres such as, The Old Vic, The Bridge Theatre, and The Globe Theatre. Whilst working within the theatre industry, my hand got heavily turned to stage work and carpentry. I started to help build sets, everything from furniture, through to larger rooms, massive opening books, a moving house, giant bean stalks, and other bits. I worked as Head of Stage, Carpenter, stage crew, rigger, camera man (in COVID) and a number of other roles in my time in London.
 

In 2021 I got an opportunity to return to Cornwall and work for a large theatre down here. It was a wild rush moving back to Cornwall, bringing my new family and starting a new job. But it was a great move, and the start of an incredible ride of three years + of my life. I then decided to change my career and thats when I started JMR-Carpentry. After working in the theatre industry for multiple years, I decided to leave that behind and bring my theatrical, creative ideas to a new place. That’s where I am today. JMR stands for Josh Micheal Reeves, and this is my company where I want to bring all those bits of Magic, creativity, and theatrical design that I have learnt into your life.
